Huaraches in San Luis de Potosi.

The old Huarache Market at the Mercado Hidalgo in San Luis de Potosi has seen better days. 50 years ago Huaracheros would be working non-stop, spilling out of the workshops and into the now quiet rows of alleyways .

Today only 2 varieties for sale, the Huarache ‘Potosino’ and the Huarache from Rio Verde a town to the east of the State.

The ‘Potosino’ Huarache.

The lack of Veg. tanned leather, or its increased cost in this part of the country, has meant that more Huaracheros are using `Carnassa´, also known as suede or PU coated leather.
